As the Northern hemisphere warms up in May, the Caribbean islands and beach towns get much less business as people aren’t looking for a warm escape. This means that many of the hotels and cruise lines offer better deals to try and get as many guests before hurricane season puts a literal damper on things. New Orleans

Everyone associates New Orleans with Mardi Gras, which famously takes place in March. But New Orleans is as lively as they come regardless of what time of year you go. With their major events over, you’ll not only get better prices, but you’ll get the chance to have a more intimate, personal connection with the city. In mid-May, you can attend the laid-back music festival Bayou Boogaloo, and in early June you can attend the Creole Tomato Festival, celebrating one of Louisiana’s most iconic agricultural offerings.

The summer months mark the busiest times for Greece, but there are a lot of advantages to visiting in the spring. For one thing, the wildflowers will be in full bloom following spring rains, making for some great photo opportunities. May marks the final month of Vegas’s busy season, so you will start to see prices drop as temperatures rise. With fewer people coming in, it will be easier to get a table at restaurants and many rooftop patios will be open, allowing for great views at sunset. Fewer crowds also means fewer people at the pool while still being the perfect temperature for it. Crowds will be thinner, and days will be longer, but without the sweltering heat that comes with the summer months. Plus, with markets and restaurants less crowded, you will have a better chance of having more authentic interactions with the locals.
